1. Warm up-introduction + Video (5 mins)

Steps:
a. Ask students some warm up questions. For example,

• Do you like to go shopping?
• How often do you go shopping?
• Where do you like to go shopping?
• What do you like to buy when you go shopping?
• b. Play the video then discuss some questions from the video.


•  

c. Ask some questions related to the video.

• List two places that they go by from their house to the store.
• Did they buy something at the store?
• List two things they buy at the store.

2. Picture Dictionary
Steps: 

1. The teacher uses Live Pen or scans the QR code of audios from page 10 to 11.
2. Read over all the words from page 10 to 11 with students.
3. Talk about the meanings of each word by using the pictures from the book or the Internet. Make sure students understand the meanings of each word.
4. Game (I say you draw)-The teacher reads and reviews the vocabularies on page 11 before playing the game. Divide the class into two teams and let two students play each round. The teacher picks and says one place from the vocabulary list. Two students need to draw things can be bought in the store; for example, the teacher says” Food court” then students can draw some food. Students need to say the word after they draw. The student who can finish drawing and reading first gets one point. 

3. Picture dictionary - Let's practice (10 min)
Steps:

1. Look over the pictures of part A and read through the sentences of part B before doing the practice.
2. Playing the audios of part A first then guide students to do the practices of part A and B.
3. Check students’ answers after they finish.
4. Game (Yes or No)-Ask students to turn to page 13. Read some sentences from page 13 and some sentences can be false. For example,” We go to the information desk when we need help “then students say “Yes”. Or “People can buy a basketball at food court” then students say” No”.
5. Ask students to read the sentences after playing the game to enhance their memories. 

4. Time to Talk (10 min)
Steps:

1. Ask some leading questions before reading the conversation.

• How many people do you see in the conversation?
• Where is this place might be?
• What did the girl and the boy buy for their father?

2. Ask students to listen then play the audio by Live Smart Pen firs time.
3. Let students circle things from the conversation the boy and the girl find in the mall before playing the audio again.
4. Let students role play and practice the conversation in a group of three.
5. Invite some groups to present the conversation after practicing.

5. TIme to Talk - Let's practice (10 min)
Steps:
a. Read the instructions of part A, B and C from page 16 to 17.
b. Guide students to complete all the practices together. (Help students if they need.)
c. Check students’ answers after they finish.

 6. Rules of the Language (10 min)
Steps:

1. Review what an adjective is with the class.
2. Teach over the rules of comparatives and read the example words in the rules at page 18.
3. Introduce and teach the sentence pattern of comparatives at page 19.
4. Ask students to repeat and make some comparative sentences.
5. Play the video of comparatives for students first. (The teacher can stop the video around 5:22.)

Ask some questions after watching the video. For example,

• What one is hotter, the sun or the lava?
• Which word is longer, glasses or spectacles?
• Which is smaller, the blue mouse or the red mouse?

7. Rules of the Langauage - Let's practice (15 min)
Steps: 

1. Read the instructions of part A, B and C from page 20 to 21.
2. Guide students to complete all the practices together. (Help students if they need.)
3. Check students’ answers when they finish writing.
4. Go over and explain some mistakes after checking.

8. Wrap up - Ask students some wrap up questions (5 min)
Steps: 

1. Ask some wrap up questions. For example,

• Which is slower, a snail or a turtle?
• Where is more interesting than a park?
• Who is taller than you in your family?
• Which subject is easier than math?
• Who has better scores than you at school?

2. Go over the questions and let some students share their answers with the class.
3. Game (Support the front line) (optional) – Tell the class the rule ahead; the teacher will assign one item randomly and each team needs to collect total amounts of the item that the teacher assigns in 40 seconds. For example, the teacher says, “I need 15 pencils.” The team can collect correct amounts in limited time wins the game and says “We have more ___________s than other teams.”
