Peppa Goes On Holiday-U3 Flying on Holiday

  1. Warm up-introduction + Video 1 & 2 (10 mins)
Steps:
Step 1: Ask students some warm up questions. For example,
  • What can we see on the road?
  • What is your favorite transportation?
  • How do you go to school every day?
  • Do you know the sound of each transportation?
Step 2: Play the video 1 (~1:03) and let students guess the sound from the video.
Step 3: Play the video 2 the first time then sing along with students the second time.
2. Story time (45 mins)
Steps:
Step 1: Ask some questions from the book cover first. For example,
  • What can you see in the picture?
  • Where is this place?
  • What are Peppa and her family doing?
  • What are Peppa and her family holding in their hands?
  • How many airplane tickets is the lady in the counter holding?
Step 2: Teach and introduce vocabularies on page 37. The teacher uses Live Pen or plays the audios of page 37 then read over all the words of page 37 with students. Talk about the meanings of each word by using the pictures from the book or the Internet.
Step 3: Play the audio of the whole reading by Live Pen or the online audio system first time. Ask some questions on page 36 before reading and proceeding to the next page.
  • What can you see in the picture?
  • Where is this place?
  • How’s the weather in the picture?
  • Do you like to take an airplane?
Step 4: Read and ask students to repeat after the story by Live Pen.
Step 5: Play the audio of the song on page 49. Sing the song with students.
 
 
3. Activities (20 mins)
Steps:
Step 1: Turn to all “Fun & Games” pages and go over questions on
the ages with students. Then discuss and check students’ answers.
Step 2:
  1. The teacher prepares some questions about the story ahead.
  2. Divide the class into two teams. Let two teams draw two suitcases on the whiteboard first.
  3. Pick two students from each team and ask them questions from the story. Students can look for answers if they need.
  4. Once the student answers correctly, he /she can get one point and draw one thing he/ she wants to bring in the suitcase on the whiteboard.
  5. After asking six or seven questions, the teacher checks which team has more things in their suitcase. The team has more things wins the game. 
4. Wrap up (5 mins)
Steps:

Step 1: Ask some wrap up questions. For example,
  • What are Peppa and George packing for?
  • Where does Mr. Bull drive Peppa and her family to?
  • What does Miss Rabbit check for Peppa and her family first when they get to the airport?
  • Where do you like to go on holidays?
  • What do you usually bring in your suitcase?
Step 2: Go over the questions and let some students share their answers with the class.
